斎藤應志・斎藤鐡臣兄弟は、中条町（現・胎内市）出身の画家。
新潟絵屋ではご縁あって、すこし前の時代の新潟の画家を紹介する企画のひとつとして、2019年にお二人の展覧会を開催しました。その後、胎内市美術館で「斎藤應志・斎藤鐡臣二人展」（2021/6/19〜8/22）が開催され、こちらの図録が刊行されました。出品作品約60点と執筆陣の文章から浮かぶ画家の像、絵の運命や人の巡り合わせを思う、しみじみと味わい深い一冊です。
